HP&DH in Poland [edit]This day, or this night I should say, is release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in Poland. The polish title had been changed a few times, many possibilities were considered, but in the end Media Rodzina decided it will be "Harry Potter i insygnia Śmierci". Polish people will know what debate was around "insygnia" or "relikwie" or "regalia" words.
I have to admit that I had my own contribution in translation
. I verificated the translation of this so-called-master-of-translation Andrzej Polkowski and... it's no use talking about it... I mean, I know I am not a master of english, but there were such a stupid mistakes! and my work was to assure all names of people, animals, herbs and stuff were the same with other books (what was quite difficult when you look at title of History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot in HP&
S - "Historia magii" i "Dzieje magii"). And there is so many little things which are irritating, for example Dumbledore or Elphias Doge talking like youth when in original they use a bit ancient words... I hope in the end the book is going to be better than last one and my work was not a waste. Neverless, don't complain of me if you don't like the translation - I did rather minor work
